Playful Learning is all about slowing down and enjoying the small teachable moments with children. A little preparation using the materials below can transform a simple day at the beach into an outdoor adventure that can lead to new discoveries and interesting discussions for years to come.
Begin by exploring the beauty of the beach and investigating the myriad of shells that wash up on shore! Collect a variety of shells in a bag or a beach pail. We love using this small clear box which naturally helps children sort and classify their treasures.
A favorite activity in the Playful Learning Studio is to offer children crayon rocks, along with our printable My Beach Collection, and invite children to trace the shells from their new collection. It’s a wonderful way to practice fine motor skills and develop hand control in preparation for writing.
